Harvard Forest Archive Now Searchable Online

Forest Co-Hosts Tour of Farm Property

On November 3, the Harvard Forest and the Petersham Historical Society co-hosted a public open house for a farm property that Harvard Forest acquired in 2008. Visitors were able to tour the renovated Bryant farmhouse, get a closer look at the 1760s-era barn, meet contemporary members of the Bryant family, and learn about Harvard Forest's effort clearing the old pastures

Special Exhibit "First Contact" to Open Sept. 23

Through digital projections, landscape photography, high-definition video, and forest audio recordings taken at the Harvard Forest, overlaid with historical voiceover texts and music, First Contact will immerse visitors in the experience of 17th century peoples as they struggled to reconcile opposing notions about land use.

Registration Open for Summer Field School in Archaeology & Paleoecology

On March 1, registration opens for the Harvard Forest Summer Field School in Archaeology and Paleoecology, a 6-week, credit-bearing course offered via the Harvard Summer School to undergraduates and graduate students from any institution.

2012 program dates are June 25 to August 3. The course will be taught by Dianna Doucette, an associate of the Harvard University Peabody Museum of Archaeology
