The Harvard Forest (which includes the Fisher Museum) is located in Petersham, a small rural town in north central Massachusetts. The Harvard Forest is 70 miles west of Harvard University’s main campus.

**Please note: Do not try to find Harvard Forest or the Fisher Museum by typing “Harvard Forest” into a GPS or phone. You must enter the address: 324 North Main Street, Petersham, MA, 01366.
From Boston: 70 miles west on Route 2 to exit 75, then three miles south (take a right off the exit) on Route 32. Harvard Forest, including Fisher Museum, is on the left.
From Worcester: 25 miles northwest on Route 122, then 3 miles north on Route 32. Harvard Forest, including Fisher Museum, is on the right.
From the North, South and West: Take Interstate 91 to Greenfield and travel east on Route 2 approximately 25 miles to exit 75. The Forest is 3 miles south (right off of exit) on Route 32. Harvard Forest, including Fisher Museum, is on the left.
Parking
Harvard Forest’s main parking lot is located outside of Shaler Hall at 324 North Main St, Petersham, MA 01366. Parking is free; no permit is required.
Accessible parking is available at the rear of the building, directly beside the ramp. Please be mindful of pedestrians when accessing this area behind Shaler Hall. Visit our accessibility page for a map.
Public Transportation
There is NO public transportation directly to Harvard Forest. If you take a train or bus to central or western Massachusetts from elsewhere, you will need to arrange for pickup from of the following sites:
MBTA Commuter Rail: Wachusett Station in Fitchburg, MA
Amtrak, Greyhound, and Flixbus: John. W. Olver Transit Center in Greenfield, MA
