Maps of Actual Wind Damage
The accompanying maps show actual wind damage by town for selected hurricanes. Maps were created in Idrisi using the data file of Fujita-scale damage (see Wind Damage by Town) and the New England town map (see GIS & Input Data). For a list of hurricane codes see List of Hurricanes.
F3 Damage 1620-1997. All hurricanes that caused actual F3 damage on the Fujita scale in the study region during the historical period (1620-1997).

F2 Damage 1939-1997. All hurricanes that caused actual F2 damage on the Fujita scale in the study region since the 1938 hurricane (1939-1997).

Maps of Reconstructed Wind Damage
The accompanying maps show reconstructed wind damage for selected hurricanes. Maps were created with the Hurrecon model using track data (see Hurricane Track Data) and other input data (see GIS & Input Data) available on this web page. See the published paper for a discussion of other model parameter settings. For a list of hurricane codes see List of Hurricanes.
