Which One?
  • Poison ivy can grow as an herb on the forest floor, or as a vine.
  • The vines become woody and hairy and live for many years.
  • All parts of this plant can cause a reaction if you are sensitive.
  • They can cause an allergic reaction even in winter.
  • In the spring they may have a reddish tint.
  • Notice that the paired lower leaves are often asymmetrical, the basal parts being larger and more deeply indented.
  • Virginia creeper and poison ivy often climb trees together
  • Hog Peanut, another 3 leafed herb and vine may be mistaken for poison ivy
