Abstract:
This study try to develop a local area forest growth prediction system based on crown information derived from LiDAR data. First, we confirm that crown lengths and crown widths obtained from LiDAR or Sattelite image data were correlated with those measured in ground surveys in stands of various density. Second, a crown growth model based on the crown information obtained from the remote sensing data will be developed. Comparison will be revealed that the estimated height to base of crown was nearly identical to the permanent plot data. Third, the relationship between crown surface area and tree growth could be modeled with a linear curve. Combining the estimated crown surface area and the crown growth model, I will predict the volume growth of regional forests.:
