Harvard Forest Research
Carbon Retention in downed woody debris under a soil warming scenario
Principal Investigator: Colin Orians
Tufts University: May 01 2007 - Sep 01 2010:
Abstract:
Overall, our research focuses on carbon retention by tree species, live and dead, in temperate forests of New England. At Harvard Forest, Minda Berbeco (PhD student at Tufts University) will take that question one step further by asking how that will change with global climate change, soil warming. Though carbon loss through litter fall has previously been investigated in relation to climate change, she will focus on the effects on coarse woody debris. This will integrate well into her current research on the carbon retention of coarse woody debris in temperate forests.:
